The tile/mosiac contractor or C-54, is a highly specific subcontractor that performs one of the most important trades in construction. A lot of DIY projects stem from the fact that tile installation looks so simple, but it’s very complex from the type of substrate used to the layout and quality of workmanship.
According to the TCNA or Tile Council of North America, there are certain areas that DIY’ers really shouldn’t tackle on their own. As a master level tile contractor, we tend to agree. The most important part of tile installation isn’t how it looks, but how it functions. Although tile can be used in dry areas, it’s the wet areas where the importance of hiring a professional matters the most.
